It seems as if I never find the time to post about anything significant. I think about it occasionally, think about what I might write about. During the 12 or so mind-numbing hours a day that I am at work, I think of all the things I would like to write down, but then I get home and am so exhausted that I never have the motivation to get anything down in print.
If I had the time or energy, I would tell you what I have been up to, what work as been crazy and what has been good. How I am closing one company and starting another. I would tell you about falling so hard for someone that I am spinning on a daily basis...and how that is the most perplexing and agrivating situation I have found myself in for the longest time.
I'd tell you about the new opening at the gallery, probems with kids at school, and a fall full of traveling and fun.
But for now, this is all that I can write. Maybe some day, when I am not burning the candle at both ends as well as in the middle, I can really tell you all the things I just meandered on about. Until then...

also, big thank you's to my super cool secret pal from secret pal 6. i so loved the package (i got it last week when i got home) i am so sorry it has taken a while to post about it....and i have somehow lost my address book in my computer, so i have lost your e-mail address...could you send it to me again? i would really appriciate it.
anyway, all, my secret pal sent the most perfect package that included the prettiest noro yarn, a way cool pom pom maker, a new knitting mag, knitscene (first issue!) that is so great and has so patterns that i just can't wait to try, and some great candy! i love it! you are so awesome!

we spent friday morning and part of the afternoon walking around the garment district! how much fun....it is too bad that you pretty much have to have a wholesale license to buy, so sad. :( oh well, it was fun anyway.

i wish that every time i posted, i didn't have my browser shut down on me and lose everything i have just writen. i really ticks me off. so here is the abreviated post of what i said before. i have been a bit remiss in posting this week (and well all the time) because we are in new york at them moment for my cousin christy's wedding, which was really a few days ago, but we haven't stopped moving since...so much to see and do in new york city. these are photos of the rehersal dinner that was at a great chinese restaurant in brooklyn. there was so much food...what you see in the photo is already the third course and there was so much before and after this.
ej is my cousin ryanne's son...so cute! complete entertainment for our table. after the dinner we all piled back into the van to head back to the city. we are staying at the marriott marquis on times square....absolutly amazing!

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
Nope, not a yarn snob. I think that there are plenty of pretty things that can be made from even the most reasonably priced yarn.

2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I don’t spin, but I do love to crochet! (almost more than knit.....)

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
I’m allergic to most house pets, perfumes, candles etc. as well as hazelnuts and brazil nuts.

4. How long have you been knitting?
I learned when I was little, but I have just recently picked it up again. I am much more of a crochet type person.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
nope

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
anything not to strong! it seems as if i am alergic to everything on the planet....but most mild, natural sents are ok. lilac would be my favorite.

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
oh my yes.

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
I love to paint, and occasionally sew

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I like most any kind of music, and yes I can play MP3’s.

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I love most colors, not a big fan of anything really pastel-ly or neon shades. also not a big fan of fire engine red all by itself.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I live with my parents in the house I grew up in. Sadly, we no longer have any pets.

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
life dreams? I suppose to be happy and healthy.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I like most things with a bit of texture. although recently I have found I really like felting, so wool is a new interest to me.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
not many....although i am not a big fan of really cheap yarn from the 70s

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
humm, felting, like I mentioned before, and attempting to really understand how to knit slippers.

hats and bags

a sweater, a slipper pattern I am test knitting, another button hole bag

I don’t mind them, although I am not sure I look so great in them myself.

I’m trying to be, although this dpn thing is starting to frustrate me.

my mom started me out, and I am picking it up on my own.

not big into animated characters, I do like most animals….anything with a vintage twist to it.

i love most any holiday....but christmas/new years especially. when it is snowing and cold in colorado, it's almost like there is magic in the air. it fills me with the wonder that i had when i was a child...maybe even more so.

anything vintage, but I especially love the 60’s

none

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?
i still do not have a copy of k&b....and i can't think of anything else at the moment.

hummm, not so sure...i'll have to think about it.

well, i don't have a tape measure right now, as i am at the office, but i will get that soon.

may to august part 2: june

this june was crazy. of course it started out in san francisco with the family, then i flew straight to missouri for conference. good time with some good old friends. i hung out with my old roommate rebekah and her cousin dane, had dinner with my best friend from high school at 40 sardines where her boyfriend was singing that night, went bow shopping with chad (oh, how fun.....) and basically wore myself out even more than i was when i arrived. you know when you are just getting to know someone and you stay up all night talking about everything you can think of? well, there were a few nights of that. and then of course when you know someone almost as well as you know yourself but have to stay up all night anyway because you haven't seen eachother in a while? there was also some of that. in any case, it was fun and really worth the trip...a cause for a little soul searching, but that is ok as well, i suppose.
when i got home, i set to work on this great button hole bag from mason dixon knitting. i really love the way that it turned out. here are pictures of it before felting and then after the first felt. i haven't taken photos of the finished product, but i will have to do that soon.

may to august - part 1

ok, today i will attempt to catch up from three months of neglectful blogging. the summer has been slightly busier than i planned and i have not had a spare moment to even think about posting. we’ll see how this goes.

for memorial day weekend we went to san francisco to spend some time with my aunt and uncle who live in castro valley. mom and dad went to a conference in san francisco and i set out to check out a few different grad programs in the area. i thought that I would be going alone, but uncle dan and aunt Kathy decided to go with me….so we spent a few eventful days wandering the streets of san francisco, looking at plenty of modern art exhibits and eating bowl after bowl of that great west coast clam chowder. all of this was made even more amusing because my uncle dan just detests the city!
we also found our way to Berkeley one day, roved up and down telegraph ave. (from bookstore to bookstore) and through many thrift/antique stores on the way home (u. dan & a. Kathy are antique dealers). we also went to the best cemetery ever in oakland! it started me thinking about a new book of photography i want to put together…ah, well, someday.
when mom and dad were done with their conference, we all went out and visited some of the more touristy spots that we had never been to on previous trips, like the golden gate bridge and the conservatory of flowers to see the big, stinky corpse flower that was about to bloom. we also headed up north of the city to muir woods. one of the nicest forests i have ever been in.

well, here i am, finally back in town and ready to be home for awhile. while tomorrow there may be a much more lengthy post on my runnings-around from the past month, for tonight I am going to at least post the track listing for the cd's i made for piddleloop.com's cd swap (which were due mailed on saturday...i will get them in the mail tomorrow). I decided to do a mountain music cd in honor of all the music festivals i travel to in the summer throughout the rocky mountains. a rather odd mix, with a lot of familiar songs, but still quite a bit of fun. :)

so, i have not had one spare moment to post anything at all recently...which is ok, i like being busy, but not this crazy. between cousins, weddings and a rendering job i recently picked up, i have not had one moment to breathe. humph. and now i am trying to get ready to leave town by noon for the long weekend, and still go to work today, and paint, and take pictures at the long horn cattle drive downtown for the foundation, and.....ok, now it appears that i am rambling entirely too much. so here are my goals for tuesday:
post photos of the now long past cd swap cd's i received, of mya and rhoades (the cutest cousins in the world) and at last my version of the button hole bag from mason dixon knitting.
as for now, toodle-loo. have a spectacular july 4th with plenty of bright fireworks!

here we are, that fun group of kids camping at mueller state park this weekend. it was so cold, and it rained a ton, and even some sleet came down on us, but that is ok. at least when the clouds lifted we got to see a nice, snowy pikes peak.

so today we went garage sale hopping and then antique store browsing in oakland and finally wound up strolling through berkeley. we meandered through bam (berkeley art museum) on the uc campus before we found our way down to Telegraph Ave. where ice cream and good used bookstores were waiting. i found this great glass bracelet from one of the street venders, but alas i didn't buy it. i might just have to return tomorrow and see if she is still there. we also visted this great cemetary with some of the coolest mauseleums that i have ever seen. I will have to post some pictures as soon as i have a bit of time. uncle dan wants to leave for a bit antique show tomorrow at 6:30, so I better get off to bed.

Oh, so much to say....the trip was crazy. Anyway, it will have to wait until tomorrow. I think that my time is about to run out on this computer. I will post pictures, maybe as early as tomorrow. Here is a little taste for all of you who pine to know how I am...:)
went to the airport, plane tickets...not booked. :(
got off the plane, got luggage....it had been RUN OVER!
walking to car....lost it. (but at least there was a scenic shuttle ride through ALL of the parking lots!)
oh, yeah, and I still have bronchitis and that annoying bacterial eye infection!
oh well, i am in california after all, how can i complain! :)

so...i realize that i have been working a little bit to hard recently, but i was getting ready for vacation and i thought that i would be just fine for the duration...that however, appears not to be the case. i got a little sick last week when i came home from lamoni. thinking that it was just a little cold that i caught on the plane, i assumed that cold medicine would kick it by the time we got ready to leave this week...boy, oh, boy was a wrong. so today i decided to go to the doctor, and it appears that was a good decision, because i apparently have bronchitis, or at least the definate beginings of bronchitis. what a pain! here i come san francisco...just wait until i cough on you. and what a fantastic way to impress those grad school admissions people. how unfortunate. oh well, i suppose that it is about time for me to go to bed anyway. toodles.

well, i spent yet another day in the park painting little tiles. thank goodness the fountain opening is tomorrow and i won't have to do this again until next year. that is, if i am still here next year. i am going to san francisco next week to look around at some grad schools and hang out on the warf for awhile...which is good, i think i need a break. kat (by big boss) has come up with some great new project ideas at the foundation though. i'll have to fill you in on some of the later...i am tired now and must go to bed.

here we go with a new blog for spring. ahh, how beautiful it is outside...i spent a good portion of the day painting tiles in the park for the uncle wilber fountain opening this saturday. what a great day to be outside. i'll post pictures next week after the event.
